Microbiological Environmental Monitoring Map Construction: A pilot study
Project Summary: This proposal aims to identify the environmental profile of Vinhomes Ocean Park 1 by analyzing airborne and waterborne pathogenic microorganisms and particulate matter (PM). The focus is on detecting microorganisms linked to respiratory and digestive diseases and evaluating PM concentrations. The project will develop a dynamic environmental monitoring map, offering valuable data to help policymakers devise sustainable urban strategies. Additionally, it provides a foundation for extensive environmental research.
Project Objectives:
- Develop a protocol for creating a dynamic monitoring map profiling airborne and waterborne pathogens.
- Equip authorities, policymakers, and residents with detailed environmental insights.
Research Design & Methods:
- Sampling:
- Five sampling sites: Ruby 1, Sapphire 2, San Hô, Hải Âu, and Sao Biển.
- Monthly bioaerosol and wastewater sampling over 12 months.
- Sample collection follows U.S. EPA and Vietnamese environmental guidelines.
- Pathogen Detection:
- DNA/RNA isolation for detecting common respiratory and gastrointestinal pathogens via qPCR and rRT-qPCR.
- Bioaerosol samples focus on respiratory pathogens; wastewater samples target gastrointestinal pathogens.
- Data Collection & Map Construction:
- Environmental factors collected from sites and public databases.
- Data analysis and map construction using Excel and R software, producing a dynamic environmental map.
