VinUni and PECC2 Forge Partnership to Advance Innovation in Sustainable Energy

On October 31, 2024, VinUni’s Environmental Intelligence Center (CEI) and PECC2 took a pivotal step in promoting environmental innovation by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This collaboration aims to strengthen both educational and technical development within the realms of renewable energy, sustainable technologies, and artificial intelligence applications in energy management.

Key Highlights of the Partnership

The MOU establishes a framework for:

  • Joint Research and Development: Collaborative projects in renewable energy, environmental conservation, electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, and AI integration for smarter energy management.
  • Talent and Knowledge Sharing: Workshops, training sessions, and knowledge exchanges focused on building capacity for cutting-edge technology.
  • Advanced Facility Access: Through this partnership, CEI researchers and students will have unique access to PECC2’s innovative facilities, helping to bridge academic research with real-world applications.

A Day of Innovation and Discovery

Following the MOU signing at the PECC2 Innovation Hub, the CEI team, led by Prof. Laurent El Ghaoui, Vice Provost for Research & Innovation, was introduced to PECC2’s pioneering Remote Solar Power Operation Center (PECC2-OCC). This is Vietnam’s first remote-controlled center that not only monitors solar power plants but also allows engineers to adjust plant parameters remotely for efficient, cost-effective, and safe operations.

In addition, the team toured the Digital Capability Center (PECC2-DCC) and experienced a virtual reality demonstration that showcased PECC2’s state-of-the-art Scan-to-BIM technology, which enables engineers to explore virtual construction sites. The day concluded with a visit to the BESS system and PECC2’s Knowledge Space, where Prof. El Ghaoui expressed his excitement about the collaboration and appreciation for PECC2’s hospitality.

A Vision for the Future

Prof. El Ghaoui shared, “The experiences today have been incredibly insightful, and I am confident that our partnership will lead to groundbreaking innovations in sustainable energy.” This partnership is set to drive advancements that contribute to a sustainable and intelligent energy future, benefiting both academia and industry.
