Research Assistant – EV Charging Robot

Objective:

As the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) continues to grow, the demand for efficient, user-friendly, and scalable charging solutions is becoming increasingly critical. Current EV charging systems often require significant human intervention and are limited in their flexibility, leading to inefficiencies in large-scale deployments such as parking lots or fleet management systems. This project proposes the development of a Smart Charging Robot capable of autonomously connecting to and charging EVs, optimizing energy distribution, and enhancing the user experience. We are seeking motivated and talented Research Assistants (RAs) to join our innovative project focused on developing a Smart Charging Robot for Vehicles. This position involves contributing to cutting-edge research and development in robotics, autonomous systems, and energy management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and implementation of robotic systems for EV charging.
  • Research advanced navigation, computer vision, and energy optimization techniques.
  • Participate in the assembly and testing of robotic prototypes.
  • Contribute to the development of machine learning models for vehicle recognition and charging port alignment.
  • Implement algorithms for real-time navigation and control.
  • Work closely with interdisciplinary team members.

Benefits:

  • The chosen application will receive training in robotic knowledge and research skills at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Opportunities for paper submissions.
  • Preparation for Master/PhD applications.
  • Access to resources for conducting research.
  • Support stipend in accordance with the VinUni-Undergraduate-Research Program policy.

Requirements:

  • High skill in Python, C/C++, or Matlab.
  • Experience with robotics platforms, sensors, and actuators.
  • Critical Thinking
  • Passionate about Robotics/Intelligent Systems
  • Good at math

Prefer:

  • Familiarity with ROS 2/Gazabo simulator
  • Experience in building C++ package
  • AI/RL experience
  • SLAM
  • Graph representation
  • Robot Kinematics/Dynamics
