Research Assistant – Green Serverless Computing

Location: On-site (VinUniversity Campus)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Project Duration: 3 Years (initial contract 6-12 months with extension possibility)

Job Overview:
We are seeking motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistants to contribute to our cutting-edge project on Green Serverless Computing for Resource-Efficient AI Training. The successful candidate will support research activities, including data collection, experimentation, and analysis, to explore serverless computing’s feasibility in AI model training. This project aims to reduce the environmental impact and resource consumption of AI systems, aligning with sustainability goals in green computing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in data collection and analysis for AI training tasks, working with benchmark and real-world datasets.
  • Support the design and development of a serverless computing architecture tailored for energy-efficient AI training.
  • Help with prototype implementation and deployment of AI models in serverless environments like AWS Lambda or Azure Functions.
  • Conduct experiments to evaluate the performance, scalability, and energy efficiency of serverless architectures.
  • Analyze results and prepare reports for internal use and external dissemination (including research publications).
  • Collaborate with PhD students, postdocs, and senior researchers to achieve project milestones.
  • Participate in team meetings, workshops, and conferences as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s students or fresh graduates are welcome to apply).
  • Basic knowledge of AI and machine learning concepts, especially regarding model training.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and serverless computing is an advantage.
  • Experience in Python programming and working with AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) is desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a research environment and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in data processing and performance evaluation metrics for computing systems.
  • Familiarity with distributed computing and cloud-native applications.
  • Prior experience working in research teams or academic projects is a plus.
